The updated drafts of the Chaffee County Land Use Code (replacing the prior Oct 12th draft version) and Zoning Map (replacing the prior Oct 10th draft version) have been posted for public review as of October 28, 2024. A summary of changes document has also been posted that provides an overview of major updates made between the Oct 12th and Oct 28th Land Use Code versions.
These drafts address recommendations from the Chaffee Planning Commission as voted on at their Oct 22nd public hearing, and reflect modifications that have been requested by the Board of County Commissioners to date. They are proposed as the versions to be considered by the Board of County Commissioners for adoption at their public hearings beginning on November 4th.
Land Use Code public hearings dates scheduled over the next month are posted at www.togetherchaffeecounty.org/events; agendas and meeting details are published at https://chaffeecoco.portal.civicclerk.com/. Meetings will be held both in person and via Zoom, and recordings will be posted to https://chaffeecoco.portal.civicclerk.com/ following the meeting conclusion.
Public comment and feedback can be submitted through email to chaffeeplanning@chaffeecounty.org, or via the form on the County Planning Department website at www.chaffeecounty.org/Planning-and-Zoning (direct link here), or by calling 719-530-5630. Public comment will also be accepted at the public hearings, both in person or over Zoom.
Together, the draft Land Use Code and zoning map support the goals, visions, and objectives of the 2020 Chaffee County Comprehensive Plan. The proposed code has evolved through the past 24 months of the Land Use Code Rewrite project and has been shaped by the public input collected through the >25 public hearing meetings held to date. The proposed zoning map seeks to implement the future land use plan adopted in the Chaffee County 2020 Comprehensive Plan.
